WHAT IS CREDO?

CREDO information lecture

If there's one thing that has been guaranteed to make a medical show a hit on TV, whether it's Casualty, House MD, or back in history shows like Dr. Kildare, it's the process of the hero or heroine doctor working out what's wrong with the patient and, after various trials and tribulations, finding the right course of treatment. While that makes for compelling TV, that element of doubt is something we are working on cutting out altogether, by using technology which helps clinicians confirm their decisions before treatment.

We have supported a project, known as CREDO which is part of the Department of Academic Oncology. CREDO is a system using computer simulations, databases and techniques which offers a highly practical solution for many patient-specific and evidence-based care requirements, especially with the treatment of breast cancer.

Our objective is to build on our experience by developing an international centre of excellence for research, implementation and deployment of clinical decision support systems, which will reduce risk and help us deliver superb patient care and offer advice to other hospitals and clinical teams.

The results of the research at the Royal Free will continue to be published widely for the benefit of people worldwide. Please make a donation and help us help others.
