We are delighted to work with local schools to help pupils understand how the Charity can make a difference and arrange a visit for an assembly or help arrange a Charity “Purple Day” to raise funds. Our community fundraisers have a chest of items which symbolise the support we provide and sometimes are able to bring a therapy dog for a visit too!

Our aim is to make each child or adult feel as comfortable as possible by providing a bright and cheerful environment with plenty of distraction with games, activities and fun interactions with volunteers and therapy dogs. We have a hospital radio where patients can hear their favourite song and evening programmes especially for dementia patients reminiscing about years gone by. Getting your school involved can help transform the way patients feel while they are in hospital.

Each year thousands of babies are born at one of our hospitals, some need extra care at birth and others come back as older children with cuts and bumps, illnesses and broken arms. One in four of our patients are elderly with some form of dementia and over two thousand patients have received the gift of life through a kidney transplant at our hospital.

How to get my school involved

Thank you for choosing to fundraise for our hospitals. We have plenty of ideas for primary and secondary schools. Please contact us and one of our community fundraisers will get back to you and arrange a visit. Together we can bring a smile when it is most needed. We have provided some events and challenge ideas to download to get you started.

Organising a “Purple Day”

This is where the fun starts! If you are looking for ideas to get your school involved why not look at our suggestions for your Purple Day below which are linked to curriculum activities and special dates each term. Your community fundraiser can provide some additional information for events as well as banners and T-shirts for staff involved in organising the day.

Take part in a challenge event

For older children and teens a challenge event will allow them to learn new skills and develop a sense of personal achievement. Decide on whether you wish to take on a physical challenge or an enterprise challenge where you make your money grow through imaginative planning and implementation.

Download our challenge events sheet for more ideas and information.

Donate an item to charity

We have five charity shops which raise funds through pre loved items and unused gifts. Why not arrange a charity shop collection day including extra special items for our on-line shop for that designer hand bag, coat or china tea set? Your community fundraiser will be able to arrange a collection day at your school and provide more information to share with your school community.
